Central Asian governments have cautiously welcomed the two-week ceasefire between the US-‘Israel’ and Iran, seeing it as a necessary pause in a conflict that has already impacted regional stability, trade and energy chains. While expressing support for the ceasefire, officials across the region have emphasized the need for urgent negotiations.

KABUL POST – According to CA Times, the war had already concerned Central Asia, disrupting key energy and transport corridors. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have prompted countries like South Korea and Japan to seek alternatives with Central Asia emerging as a potential substitute. However, Central Asian routes are longer and more complex, with oil shipments often passing through Russia-linked infrastructure.

The ceasefire offers temporary relief but the region’s vulnerability to disruptions remains high. Whether the ceasefire lasts and leads to a promising peace will determine Central Asia’s role in the global energy and transport landscape
